The Basics

There’s a good chance that you already have a personal Facebook page, but do you have one for your business? It’s easy to set-up and you can do it right from your personal account. Here are some instructions to get you started.

What is The Difference Between Boosting and Sponsoring?

There are a few different ways to “advertise” on Facebook. The simplest of these is boosting a post. When you create a new post, a blue button will be located at the bottom of the post. Click on that and a screen will pop up and allow you to pick an audience, length of time you want it boosted and your budget. It’s a nice way to raise some awareness of you and your business. It is not the most targeted way to reach your audience, but as mentioned before, it’s a nice way to dip your toe in the water of Facebook advertising and raise some brand awareness.

When you sponsor an ad, you are logging into the Ads Manager and creating an ad. You’ll be able to really target your audience with options such as zip code, cities, income level, job description, homeowner, renter, etc. This allows you to get really specific about who will see your ad.

After you create the sponsored ad, you’ll want to capture their information somehow. There’s two ways to do this. First, you can have them fill out a form on Facebook. These are simple to make and easy for them to fill out when they’re on the ad. Second, you can send them to a landing page to collect their information and give them more information. What’s great about the second option is that it gives them more information and if you are using a CRM, all of their information will be stored and organized for you.

Some great content to use in sponsored ads are new listings, Open Houses or price reductions. If you need any help setting any of this up, just let us know.

More Tips To Grow

Use Facebook Live. Stand out from the crowd by having virtual Open Houses or showcasing sneak peaks. There are numerous ways to use this tool, find out more here.

Stay top of mind.  A super easy way to do this and stay in front of people is to wish them happy birthday. Each day you’ll get a notification of birthdays, simply click on the names and wish them happy birthday. Facebook will recognize this engagement and start putting you in their newsfeed- any easy way to stay engaged and top of mind.

Invite people to like your page. There are two ways to do this. First, ask all of your personal friends to like your business page. Click on the three buttons right under your cover photo. Then, scroll down to where it says Invite Friends. Click that and all of your friends will appear and you can invite them.

Second, if and when you do boost a post- Facebook will show you the results and names of people who liked the post. Click on the names of people under the post and a box will pop-up. If people don’t like your page, there will be an option to invite them.

Don’t just blast your listings. According to a recent study, the real estate industry has the most activity regarding posting, but have the least amount of engagement. And it’s likely because agents are blasting their listings and not much else. Be sure to provide educational and informational posts. People are looking for answers and if they find you, they are more likely to call you when they’re ready to buy or sell. Provide first time homebuyer tips or seller tips. A good rule to follow is that for every four educational/informational posts, provide one post of a listing.

Lastly, if you’re going to use Facebook, be sure to do it consistently. Don’t have a profile that looks stagnant and out-of-date. People will look online and if they see that, they may wonder why there’s no activity.
